Coverage of the Drift Nation/ Signal Auto Drift Comp. and Demo
I just got home from my first ever drift event. I have to say I was very impressed! Signal auto brought two drivers from Japan to do demo's throughout the weekend and there was a local driver drift school/competition. Drifting to those of you who have never seen it is when you intentionally slide the rear end of a car out and continue the slide while steering using the rear wheels by giving more or less gas. The Japanese drivers covered the whole parking lot at around 60mph sometimes over 80 mph the whole time never gaining traction, all while only feet apart. They are driving Nissan 240sx's making 400 hp at the rear wheels, they are also right hand drive. The local drivers also put on a great show despite having basically stock cars and working very hard to get them sideways. One of the instructors even drifted a front wheel drive Toyota Echo--that was insane!! Anyway check out some of the video captures from the video I shot while there, they don't do the action justice but give you a pretty good idea what went down. Watch for some of the footage in our next video...
